Language Services

According to federal and state laws, Joint Commission Standards and Johns Hopkins policy, equal access and communication assistance will be provided to all patients with communication needs and those assisting them in the provision of care.

Howard County General Hospital will provide interpretation services to the patient and those assisting them in the provision of care when having medical discussions on behalf of the patient. Interpretation will be provided by in person interpreters (IPI), over the phone (OPI) or video remote interpretation (VRI) for spoken languages and American Sign Language (ASL).

Services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information, visit Johns Hopkins Medicine's Language Services.

Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee is available should you need help making difficult decisions regarding your care or treatment, or that of a loved one. These decisions may involve resolving differences of opinion between family members about continued life support or helping you understand the options your doctor has offered. A member of your health care team can contact the committee for you.
